The sledding around here has been insane. Tomorrow will be our second snow day in a row. Isaac injured his arm sledding and got a "contusion" on his right shoulder. He's sapposed to wear a sling, but he insists it's for wimps. Puh-lease boy. It's for kids who know how to milk it. Lightweight.
Anyway, I was just thinking how lucky we are that none of my kids have broken their bones or sprained anything in their crazy lives.
Yes, there was the stapled head, the countless gashes and bruises ( referred to as "buttons" by my children( push and hear a scream!)),
the stitches,
the skin glue,
the dislocated elbow (twice),
and the other stitches,
and the recent concussion ( a story for another time).
On second thought, this is ridiculous.
What makes a boy jump from a cliff like he's got a deathwish?
Why do they feel the need to risk life and limb all for the joy of a tale to tell?
How is it that they see others break bones, lose vision, get hospitalized, suffer all manner of injuries, yet convince themselves it can not happen to them?
Perhaps the concussion...?
